Survey on the Types of Gifts Given by eBay
According to the eBay-sponsored survey, American women can be classified into four different types of presenters. Which one do you belong to?
Gifts for the emotional. Around 4 in 10 American women present emotional gifts. When they carefully consider the present and its intended recipient, they will usually look for unusual items. These emotional gifs want to display how well they understand the gift recipients, so they prefer to design their gift ideas typically wrap their gifts in their own hands, and present the presents with personal notepad or card.
Practical Givers. About 1 out five American women are in this group of gifters. They give gifts, and most effective gifts are either cash in cold form or gift certificates (gift certificates or gift cheques). Gifts are given according to practicality, meaning they let the recipient choose the item that he or considers to be the most appropriate. A great tool for that sort of freedom is cash or a gift card.
Convenience Givers. Around 16 percent from survey respondents stated they were such. The Convenience Givers are great shoppers. They like to buy their gifts from just one shop. The women who are searching for the perfect gift is an ongoing chore they are required to complete (often at a grudging pace). Most of the time, people who are Convenience Gifters do not feel much excitement or pleasure in finding the perfect gift to give.
Last-Minute Givers. These are the women who shop for gifts on the last day of Christmas. They appear to love having fun with the rush of last minute purchasing. A little more than 13% of all American women belong to this group. The majority of gift-buyers don’t plan their gift purchases far in advance.
It seems possible to exhibit many of the characteristics of the different kinds of people who give gifts. In the majority of cases, however, one characteristic dominates, but a few is merely secondary characteristics.
Many bloggers have claimed that they’re mix of both the emotional and convenience giver. He also said that the sole site he used purchase gifts for Christmas which were carefully planned and thought-out to be given to specific recipients – could be proof of this. Before his transmogrification to the Emotional-Convenience hybrid, he claimed he was definitely of the Last-Minute breed.
Sceptics of such surveys
eBay’s survey is extremely well-thought out and was claimed to be based on 95% certainty with a margin for error of 3.1 percentage points. When I first heard about this survey, my first thought was to take a look at myself to determine what type of gift-giver I am. Then, after a while, I began to realize that these surveys must be used with a pinch salt.
